I'm Ted Cruz I'm the son of an Irish Italian mom and a Cuban immigrant dad who fled oppression and came to America seeking freedom I'm

your political life and all the things that made you who you are while the book as large in the story of my family and how many of the conclusions I've reached and the opportunities that I've had are the direct result of decision experiences that they made and had so

they were not opposing it arm and I am absolutely the son of an immigrant who came from Cuba my father was was in prison he was tortured in Cuba and

of us have a story like that nor background that's what it means to be an American we are a people who fled oppression and

%HESITATION with I think those of us who are involved in politics and supportive of him should give the space to do that so that's

long ago and obviously I I think there are a lot of other people out there that have similar stories and one of things I hope is that by telling my story I can pay tribute to America because

the child of an immigrant who had fled oppression it if there was an urgency to it and that urgency never been greater than right now after

I think it JZ was truly interested in the true state of affairs in Cuba he would have met people that are being oppressed including a hip hop artist in Cuba who

the mid seventies in many areas

me I think about the story of my dad fifty seven years ago my father fled Cuba my dad had been in prison he'd been tortured as a teenager in Cuba and

one of the whole time which I luckily other particular part of the debate that women would like us on the kick out all of whom

are so many of our people desensitize for the murder and and and and the suffering of others why is that happening in our culture will

America has always been the land of opportunity that promise inspired my father to escape torture in Cuba and

and and it is becoming harder and harder for people like my dad who came as an immigrant from Cuba with nothing wash
