Martin O'Malley hosts roundtable in New Hampshire on debt-free college

we're delighted to have you here %HESITATION we are very interested to hear the conversation place and up in

how we moved to that point on our country's horizon where the option of going to college debt

free it is universal and opened everybody every family that should choose i wish family that should plan our

people do make choices but is a nation we have to make sure did we create a universal option for debt free college for

all families if they should so choose so look just a couple so let me share with you my story i want around the room and ask each of you your stories nda

higher and higher levels so they can fill the jobs that are required than in the economy of

their day well when i went to college she catholic university of america so my dad god bless him was

able to play almost all of that two we should annually without having to go into any real

a budget that that when i got out of college how went to law school university who else went to moscow you're somebody at the where

lawyer intensive family i'm not recovering lawyer nnnnn the one i went to law school thank goodness i

got into the state universe yeah i got into the university of maryland and i was able by working through law school to be able to pay my

so that's very different than the world that you're in today and our country what has happened in essence over the latch ten

fifteen years is that our federal government has stopped making the investments it used to and

higher education there are state governments should stop making the investments that used do in higher education and

you have any relish or any and you still but you can't wave a magic wand to freeze tuition

costs you have to you have to pay so so that's the predicament we're and measure results we
